Technics celebrates 55 years of building a legendary turntable with this limited edition model.  This model includes a gold anodized aluminum tonearm and 55th anniversary badge with production number. This is a true collectors item!

Since 1972, the Technics SL-1200 series has helped shape music culture alongside DJs and vinyl lovers worldwide. The Gold Edition commemorates the 55th anniversary of the series and the legacy built together over the past 55 years. The timeless value of truly engaging with music remains pure gold for generations to come.

For the SL-1200, a new coreless direct drive motor was developed. This motor employs a coreless stator. The removal of the core (iron core) from the stator eliminated the root cause of cogging. Furthermore, the magnetic force of the rotor magnets was improved to the highest possible level, and the gap between the coreless stator and rotor magnets was optimised, thus achieving high-torque-performance equaling that of the SL-1200MK5. Boasting smooth rotation and powerful torque, this motor reproduces sound accurately and faithfully from the groove on an analogue record.
