How to Select Bookshelf Speakers

When building your first hifi (stereo) system, consider the following when selecting bookshelf speakers.

Room size: Ideal for small to medium sized rooms with some exceptions.

Height: Place them at ear height when listening to maximize frequency. Use speaker stands, if there are no console or shelving in place.

Sound: Do you prefer warm, neutral or more open and dynamic sound?

Distance from Wall: Rear-ported models produce different bass output depending on the proximity to the wall. Front ported or sealed will be less affected by placement.

Below are a few of our top recommended bookshelf speakers for novices.
